Michalis Zachartzis is a graduate of the Department of Music Studies at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, holds a master’s degree in Conducting Children’s and School Choirs from the Ionian University, and is a graduate in Advanced Music Theory from the Macedonian Conservatory of Thessaloniki (under the guidance of D. Athanasiadis). He has also studied double bass at the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki in the class of G. Gralistas.
He has attended choir conducting seminars as part of the Summer Academy of the Ionian University with B. Astulez, An. van der Merwe, An. Thomas, Z. Poloz, M. Guinand, D. Rao, Yoshihisa Matthias Kinoshita, and Joy Hill, as well as choral conducting workshops with M. Meligopoulou, D. Ktistaki, Agg. Krisila, S. Gioldasi, and also a seminar on music in theater and film with N. Kypourgos, music theory with M. Travalos, and professional development in “innovative approaches to teaching” through the Erasmus+ program.
He participates as a musician in various musical ensembles and was a member of the Symphonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Larissa too. He currently co-conducts the Karditsa Mixed Choir “Parenthesis”. He teaches European music theory, choir, and is responsible for the choral ensemble at the Karditsa Music School.
